project planning and development guideline
At
Avtec Media, our goal is to help you understand web technology in the most simple
and straightforward way possible.
To
facilitate this goal, we have a defined development process that guarantees
projects will run smoothly and successfully. Please familiarize yourself with
the process so you can fully understand everything that goes into creating a
website. This guideline will also help you learn what to expect and what to provide
regarding your required contribution to the project.
Stage 1 :: Concept & Planning
Stage 2 :: Engineering
Stage 3 :: Creative & Visual Design
Stage 4 :: Prototype Development
Stage 5 :: Development
Stage 6 :: Testing & Quality Assurance
Stage 7 :: Launch & Rollout
Stage 8 :: Maintenance & Reviews
Stage 9 :: Phase 2 Planning
Stage
1 :: Concept & Planning Meeting with Client
This is one of the most important parts of the entire process.
EVERYTHING involved in the project
is defined:
Initial
wants and needs
Target audience
Capability
descriptions
Content
and materials lists
Marketing
messages and campaign
Team members
Contact
information
Budget
Timeframes
Once this information is established, we set the goals of the
project and determine the priority levels of specific project components.
Stage
2 :: Engineering
Our technical staff designs the underlying structure of the
website. Based on the concept and planning meeting, Information Architects figure
out the best way to organize and present the content.
The
result of this process is the Site Architecture
We develop
the site-wide navigation system
How the
audience will interact with the site
We outline
all of the procedures, tasks and processes facing users
We determine
the most appropriate options to offer your users
The end result is the Functional Design.
Based on the functionality requirements, we determine the best
technical solutions to implement, which are outlined in the Technical Architecture.
It is critical to choose the right tools and to make best technical decisions
so that development moves smoothly and the end solution is technically sound
and scalable.
Stage
3 :: Creative & Visual Design
Now
that we have figured out the technical details, we enter the Creative & Visual
Design stage. Now that your infrastructure is solid, you get
to work on the visual elements.
Design
that clearly communicate our client's image and marketing message
Design that
supports and promotes usability
Design that
produces the intended perception and interpretation of the target audience
Form, color, layout and typography speak volumes to your audience.
Stage
4 :: Prototype Development
This stage occurs when a project has met intensive functionality
and usability requirements.
Prior
to developing back-end applications, a working prototype of the site is built
This validates
the integrity of the Site Architecture, Functional Design and User Interface
Now
you can test-drive the system before it's built!
You make sure the site looks and works
the way you want it to.
Stage
5 :: Development
Build
the applications
Tune the
databases
Stage
6 :: Testing & Quality Assurance
We
smooth out the development processes
We conduct
rigorous user testing and quality assurance measures
From basic
contact forms to heavy process loads on the servers, we ensure that your site
is ready for the world to see
Stage
7 :: Launch & Rollout
1,
2, 3, lift-off! This is the day everyone has been waiting for!
We
have tested the site - and it looks great!
We've addressed
any major issues
The site
is live and ready for public access
We will
carefully monitor performance and response to the site
We will
make sure everything continues to work properly
Stage
8 :: Maintenance & Reviews
Although your site is now live, there is still work to be done.
We offer:
Scheduled
maintenance agreements
Do-it-yourself
content management features
Site maintenance
makes planning and implementing new functionality and features efficient and
cost-effective
We provide quarterly review sessions where we:
Compare
the original goals with the overall response,
Address
any problem areas
Work on
planning for upcoming phases
A neglected or abandoned site is paramount to poor customer
service.
Avtec Media works hard with clients to keep their sites
working right and looking great.
Stage
9 :: Phase 2 Planning

long-term relationships with clients. The same goes for Avtec Media. Your success
