What is PageRank?
PageRank is a method Google uses to "rank" websites by comparing their popularity on the Web. To do this, Google interprets a link from website A to website B as a vote, by website A, for website B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the website that casts the vote. Votes cast by websites that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other websites "important." Important, high-quality web sites receive a higher PageRank, which Google remembers each time it conducts a search. This means that the higher PageRank you receive the better your website will perform in Search Engines. For example, this page has a PageRank of 4 (see upper right indicator).
